Volunteer
Volunteers are crucial to the success of the Circle of Hope program and its participants. Plus it's a great way to meet new people and get involved with the community!
Students working with us can also earn Student Service Learning Hours while exploring possible career paths.
Horse Leader / Side Aide
Volunteering during therapy riding sessions gives you the opportunity to work directly with our participants, and contribute to their individual success. Each therapy session requires 3 volunteers, 1 volunteer will lead the horse and 2 side aides to assist and attend to the safety of the participant
Requirements:
must be age 14 or older
attend a volunteer orientation and training (offered monthly)
Volunteers may also be asked to assist with:
Grooming & Tacking
Game / Activity Set Up
Light maintenance of equipment and cleaning tasks
Sessions take place on Saturdays and Sundays year round . Volunteers usually sign up to work at least 2 consecutive time slots and we try to keep our volunteers consistent week to week when possible. This helps volunteers and participants form a connection and establish trust.
Arrive: 30 minutes before the scheduled session time
Session: runs for 30 minutes
Clean up: usually lasts 15-30 minutes (putting equipment away, sweep, etc)
